When off-the-shelf won't do
Most brackets and mounts assume a standard situation. But real-world installations are rarely standard — equipment goes in odd spaces, bolt patterns don't line up, clearances are tight, and the thing you need to mount wasn't designed to be mounted that way.

Why PETG is ideal for brackets
Brackets and mounts are load-bearing. They need to resist bending under load, maintain their shape when warm, and hold their dimensions over time. PETG handles all of these requirements far better than PLA:
- Better stiffness and impact resistance under mechanical load
- Heat resistance to ~80°C — suitable for enclosed spaces, near electronics, inside vehicles
- Dimensional stability in humid environments
- Good layer adhesion for strength across all axes
Design considerations for brackets
A few things to keep in mind when designing or commissioning a bracket:
- Print orientation matters — Parts are strongest parallel to the print bed. A bracket that will be loaded in tension along the Z axis may need gussets or a redesign to be printed in a better orientation.
- Wall thickness — For functional brackets, we recommend a minimum of 2–3 wall perimeters. Thicker walls resist flex and impact better.
- Bolt hole tolerances — Design holes slightly oversized (typically +0.3–0.5 mm) to account for FDM tolerances. Heat-set brass inserts work well for threaded features.
- Infill — Higher infill increases weight and print time but improves stiffness and compression strength. We select appropriate infill for each application.
